Presented and protected in a splendid green half-oasis morocco leather and marbled custom clamshell box with single rule to board gilt , raised bands, gilt titles. A brilliant piece.
Basis for two film versions. The first, Alberto Cavalcanti’s 1946 version with Derek Bond, Cedric Hardwicke, Bernard Miles and Sally Ann Howes; the other, Douglas McGrath’s 2002 version starring Charlie Hunnam, Jamie Bell, Anne Hathaway, Jim Broadbent and a host of the best of British character actors.
