First Edition of the Hammett classic, his fourth novel, brilliantly bound in gold full oasis morocco leather, raised bands, gilt titles, topedge gilt, and beautiful matching marbled endpapers. Original spine bound in. Basis for two film adaptations, the 1935 George Raft starrer and the 1942 remake with Brian Donlevy and Veronica Lake. The famed Akira Kurosawa claims this Hammett title was his inspiration for Yojimbo. This copy, a superb production.
